Barcelona, the highest rents in Spain
According to one of the main real estate agency in Spain, Barcelona had the highest rents in the whole country for 2016. The price are actually exceeding those before the economic crisis in 2007 and the trend is set to continue in 2017.
In average, the price per square meter is around 15€ but in Ciutat Vella, the heart of Barcelona, they are reaching 17.37€! This is mostly due to tourism and short stay of workers in the Catalan capital. It is expected this rise will expend to the rest of the city.
